Unreal Tournament was a great arena shooter and I can’t even begin counting the hours I spent on that game during my childhood. The Oldskool Amp’d mod allows you to play single player maps that would normally require the original Unreal game. Many great single player maps tend to be made for Unreal Tournament these days because it removes some of the limitations of the first game and provides more features for the level designer.
Vacillations of a Victorian Vagrant is a single player map for UT that was originally released as part of a speedmapping contest. It features some nice custom textures and has a couple of modified monsters. In the current version you’ll also find a new health pickup in the form of booze bottles. And health you need because you will face some heavy opposition. Thankfully, the author included all skill levels.
The map itself takes place in an old Victorian setting, a warehouse district to be precise. You play the role of a homeless man who finds himself locked into the streets and decides to investigate the strange noises that originate from a cathedral-like factory. While the story itself is pretty simple, the map looks very polished and I find it pretty amazing that the author managed to create such a detailed environment in a short amount of time.
