Core Decay level design update #4

Things are coming along nicely. During the last couple of weeks I have been making substantial progress and started work on a brand-new area in my Blacksite map.

At the moment, I’d say the map’s layout is somewhere between 65-70 % completed. There are quite a few things missing because many of the intended props still need to be finished. Once we’re ready to add them to the level, things will look a lot more richly detailed.

A new area in Blacksite I’ve been working on

At the time of writing, I’m working on connecting some of the larger parts on Blacksite with the courtyard entrance. There will be a complex sewer system to navigate through as well because I really wanted to increase replayability. The introduction of keypads that require a code to activate or open certain objects, will certainly amplify the more exploratory nature of the game as well.

There are some pretty cool new mechanics in term of gameplay as well. The swim and dive mechanic has had an overhaul and an oxygen meter has been introduced as well. Things are constantly improving and there will probably be some more changes in the near future.

On another note, Ivar has been working on a new weapon called “The Accelerator”. This is an assault weapon with some rather unique traits, as you can see in the Tweet below.
